Harry Lorton, Chairman of the Board
Mr. Harry Lorton, Chairman. Harry Lorton, B.B.S., M.A., F.C.C.A., has been a Member of the Board of Directors since 2002 and has been Chairman since 2003. Mr. Lorton worked in the Banking industry for 33 years, 12 of which were spent as C.E.O. of Cork & Limerick Savings Bank, TSB Bank and Permanent TSB. He is a Non-Executive Director of Royal Liver Assurance Limited and also serves as Chairman and Director of a number of private Irish companies involved in leisure, visual communications and property development. A former President of the Institute of Bankers in Ireland and of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, he is a Council Member of the Irish Management Institute. He holds a degree in Business Studies from Trinity College, Dublin and is a graduate of the Owner/President Program of Harvard Business School.
Paul Bryans, Director
Paul Bryans has served as a director of KineMatik since November, 2001. Following a career in investment banking - including serving as a director at Charterhouse Bank and European Capital - Mr. Byrans is now an independent consultant. He has extensive experience of structuring and arranging finance for management buy-outs and projects including PFI/PPP in the UK and Ireland, and was the first Chief Executive of 4ps (the body established to advise local authorities) while on secondment to the UK government. Paul has a BSc in computer science and mathematics from the University of Warwick and serves as the Chairman of KineMatik's Remuneration Committee.
Niall Welch, Director
Niall Welch is the Founder and Senior Partner of Welch & Co, Chartered Accountants and Management Consultants. Prior to that he was a Partner in Deloitte & Touche for nineteen years. While with Deloitte & Touche he acted as International Liaison Partner with responsibility for all US multinational clients investing in Ireland. This involved working closely with IDA Ireland, the industrial development agency of the Irish Government, which has had enormous success in attracting foreign industries to Ireland. He is currently Vice Chairman of Blarney Woollen Mills Group and holds various other board memberships. In the past he has been a member of the board of the Industrial Development Authority (IDA Ireland) and has been Chairman / Board member of a number of other Public or State Sponsored companies. His major strength is in strategic planning including merger/acquisitions, joint venture and MBOs. He has particular experience of developing the correct financial structure for projects and in conducting negotiations with financial institutions for project finance.
Mr. Welch has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University College Cork and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.
Joseph Gantly, Director
Joe Gantly is the former Managing Director of European Operations and Service for Apple in Europe which employs 1600 people in Cork. He started his career with the Westinghouse Corporation in Pittsburgh where he held a number of senior engineering management
positions in the USA and Europe. He joined Apple in 1990 as Manufacturing Manager and in 1998 was appointed Managing Director of European Operations and Service with responsibility for all of Apple’s European Operations and Service functions which are headquartered in Cork. Mr. Gantly is the Chairman of the Cork Airport Authority. He is also a member of the Governing Body of UCC and a board member of the Tyndall Institute in Cork. He is also a director of a number of technology
companies in Ireland.
Mr. Gantly is an Engineering graduate of Trinity College Dublin and holds an MBA in Business Administration from University College Galway. He also holds a qualification in Computer Systems from the University of Pittsburgh.
Thomas J. Cassidy, Chief Executive Officer
Thomas Cassidy has served as KineMatik’s Chief Executive Officer since September 2004. From January 2003 he served as KineMatik’s Senior Vice President of European Operations. Prior to joining KineMatik, he held various senior positions at Peter Chadwick Ltd, Cambridge Management Consulting and Celerant Consulting. Mr. Cassidy has over 12 year of management consultancy experience across a broad spectrum of industries. Throughout his consultancy career Mr. Cassidy led project teams in global organizations in the design, development and implementation of strategic initiatives that delivered significant financial, operational and customer value improvements to clients.
Mr. Cassidy is a Dairy Science graduate of University College Cork.
David Dunn, Director
David Dunn has over thirty years of diverse experience in the diagnostics industry with management responsibilities at the Vice Presidential level in Clinical Laboratory testing; Research & Development; Quality Control; Quality Assurance; FDA & ISO Quality Systems Regulatory compliance; Corporate Regulatory compliance for DEA, EPA, OSHA, NRC and USDA; FDA product clearances and approvals including 510(k)s, INDs, PMAs and BLAs; International product registrations including CE Marks, Canadian registrations, Australian registrations, Brazilian registrations and Japanese registrations; Clinical Affairs; Medical Services; Customer Services; Instrument Repair Services; and Manufacturing. David Dunn started his career at BioDynamics, then Boehringer Mannheim. He has spent the last 13 years at Gen-Probe and Celera Diagnostics, companies focused on developing and marketing newly discovered genetic markers and amplified technology businesses. He was directly responsible for FDA approval of the first amplified nucleic acid test (NAT) for Tuberculosis as well as the first FDA approved NAT blood screening assay for HIV and HCV. Mr. Dunn received his Bachelor’s degree from Purdue University in Biology and Chemistry and is now serving as an individual consultant to the diagnostics industry.
